What I can help with

Support that fits your child's world

Every child is different. I work across a range of areas, always starting with what your little one loves and building from there.

Speech sounds

Helping children say sounds more clearly so they feel understood and confident when they chat with the people they love.

Talking & language

Building vocabulary, putting words together, and finding new ways to express ideas, feelings, and stories.

Social communication

Learning how conversation works — taking turns, sharing attention, and connecting with other kids and grown-ups.

Understanding language

Supporting children who find it tricky to follow instructions, understand questions, or make sense of what they hear.

Early intervention

The earlier we start, the bigger the difference. I work with toddlers and young children to build strong foundations early.

Coaching for families

Helping parents and carers feel confident using simple, powerful strategies throughout the day — no extras needed.

The process

Simple from the start

No long waiting lists or confusing paperwork. Just a friendly conversation about your child and what's going on.

1

Say hello

We have a free, no-obligation phone chat so you can share what's on your mind and I can answer your questions.

2

First session

I come to you — at home, playgroup, or wherever your child is most comfortable — and we play and connect.

3

A clear plan

I'll share what I found, what it means, and a practical plan you can actually use in everyday life.

4

Grow together

We work as a team. Each visit builds on the last, and I check in regularly to make sure things are working for your family.

About Jade

Hi, I'm Jade — and I believe every family deserves a speech pathologist who feels like part of the team.

I'm a paediatric speech pathologist based in Port Hughes, right here on the Copper Coast. I come to you — whether that's your living room floor, your backyard, or your local playground — because that's where children learn best.

I started my practice because I wanted to do speech therapy differently. Not in a clinic with a stranger, but with someone who knows your town, understands your family's rhythms, and can turn the school run and the dinner table into speech therapy moments.

My approach is built on the belief that children don't need to be fixed — they need to be understood, supported, and celebrated. I use play-based, family-centred techniques that put you in the driver's seat, because you're with your child every day and I'm not.

Questions

Things parents often wonder

Do I need a referral to see Jade?
Nope! You can get in touch directly — no GP referral needed. If you're planning to use Medicare or NDIS funding, a referral may be required depending on your plan, but I can walk you through all of that when we have our initial chat.
My child is only 18 months — isn't it too early?
Absolutely not — the opposite, actually. Research shows that early support leads to the best outcomes. I love working with little ones from 12 months, and often the work at this age is mostly parent coaching, which is gentle and positive for everyone involved.
Where do sessions happen?
I come to you. Sessions happen at home, at your child's daycare or kindy, at the playground — wherever your child is most relaxed and where you'd like the strategies to stick. I service Port Hughes and the broader Copper Coast region. I also offer telehealth if that works better for your family. [Add specific service area details if needed]
How much does it cost?
[Add fee information here — e.g. standard session rate, NDIS registration status, Medicare CDM/EPC rebates available]. The initial phone chat is always free. I'll always be upfront about costs before anything is booked.
My child is really shy — will therapy even work?
Shy children are often some of my most wonderful clients — I just take it gently and follow their lead. In the first session or two I might not even engage with your child directly; I'll just sit nearby and play alongside you. There's no pressure, ever. Trust builds at its own pace.
The paediatrician said to "wait and see" — what do you think?
I respect all medical advice, but I also believe a free phone chat costs you nothing and can give you much more information to make a decision. Early support — even if it's just some ideas to try at home — is rarely wasted. If everything is on track, I'll tell you honestly. If there's something worth addressing, we'll know sooner rather than later.
